Police say they are investigating a marijuana grow at a former city community center on Oakland Beach Avenue.

Firefighters responded to the former J.O.N.A.H. Center at 830 Oakland Beach Ave. around 8 a.m. Friday for a fire alarm, said Police Detective Capt. Ryan Sornberger. Once there they discovered the marijuana grow and contacted police.

Sornberger said police, including other law enforcement agencies, were treating the discovery as a criminal investigation and had not yet determined if the grow was one of dozens of licensed marijuana businesses in the city.

Sornberger said the Join Our Neighborhood and Help Center had been sold by the city in 2018.
