USA: Marijuana worth $1M in drug bust

Two brothers who were arrested on felony charges for possessing marijuana, had about a million dollars of marijuana, at street price, between them both.

According to state police, the average price per pound is about $2,200, and 27-year-old Tevin L. Terrance and 25-year-old Tyren A. Terrance were allegedly found in possession of 471 pounds of marijuana equating approximately $1 million.

“The value of marihuana can vary depending on the area of the state where it is sold — in the Capital District the average price of a pound of marijuana is approximately $2,200,” said State Police Public Information Officer Kerra Burns.

The two males were arrested on Thursday after state police observed two vehicles committing numerous traffic violations. During the traffic stop of the two vehicles, troopers could smell the odor of marijuana coming from the interior of each vehicle. A search of both vehicles was conducted and both were found to have multiple hockey bags full of marijuana. The total weight of the marijuana between the two vehicles was approximately 471 pounds.

Both men were charged with first-degree criminal possession of marijuana.
