USA: Man arrested for packaging, selling marijuana inside WPB home, 72 lbs. found: Sheriff

Over 72 pounds of marijuana was found inside a home in West Palm Beach following a lawful search by deputies.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office (PBSO) said a search warrant was issued to a home at 2649 Cedarcrest Road. A stakeout was conducted at around 6 a.m. on Wednesday, March 8, but there was no activity until 11:30 a.m.

According to the arrest report, an agent parked into front of the house and and revved his engine to lure the occupants outside. 60-year-old Arlis Perez-Pupo went outside to see what was happening. At that moment, he was detained and three others were taken out of the residence. All four residences were given their Miranda Rights in Spanish.

Once the house was cleared, the sheriff’s office said, “a powerful odor of raw marijuana” could be smelled. Bags of packaged marijuana were strewn across the house in multiple rooms. In the kitchen, multiple drug ledgers were found, which showed the amount of drugs going out and cash coming in.

Detectives said throughout the house 72.6 pounds of marijuana was found, along with two sheds with material for growing marijuana and loose cash.

When investigators questioned Perez-Pupo, he told investigators the marijuana was his and he was holding it for a friend that planned to sell it. Detectives said his statement was only partially true since the ledgers found the multiple types of strains.

The sheriff’s office said Perez-Pupo was arrested and charged with traffic marijuana over 25 lbs., intent to sell drugs, drug possession and using a vehicle or structure for drug purposes.
