UK: Dealer forced to postpone wedding after he’s caught with cocaine and LSD

Wales Online reports

Mahib Ahmadi, 27, was stopped by police in Cardiff and also found him in possession of ketamine, MDMA, dipentylone, and cannabis

A drug dealer had to postpone his wedding after he was caught with cocaine, LSD and MDMA. Mahib Ahmadi was supposed to tie the knot with his fiancé last year but ended up on remand after being arrested.

The 27-year-old was stopped by police in Cardiff on October 3, 2021, after they became concerned about his driving. But when officers carried out a check on his motor, they found the grey Audi A3 had been linked to drug offences.

As Ahmadi got out of the car, he was told he was being searched – but resisted, causing the officers to PAVA spray him and take him to the floor. He was then arrested on suspicion of possessing with intent to supply class A drugs, a sentencing hearing at Cardiff Crown Court heard on Friday.

Prosecutor Jason Howells said the defendant was found in possession of a plastic container full of grip seal bags of white powder, a Samsung phone and £360 in cash. Also found were what appeared to be two sheets of paper but were in fact 73 tablets of LSD, 0.3g of cannabis, an iPhone and multiple grip seal bags.

The defendant’s then home of in Brandreth Road, Roath, was also searched where police found further packages of class A drugs and £450 in cash. Ahmadi was interviewed and made no comments to questions asked of him. He was later released under investigation.

Forensic analysis of the drugs was carried out and the white powder discovered in containers included 28 bags of cocaine, seven bags of ketamine, 28 bags of MDMA, 35 bags of dipentylone and two bags of caffeine. The total amount of drugs found were worth between £1,580 and £3,880.

Ahmadi, now of HMP Parc, later pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply controlled drugs of class A, controlled drugs of class B and controlled drugs of class C. The court heard that he had previously been dealt with for four criminal offences relating to drugs.

Defence barrister Stephen Jones said Ahmadi became involved in drug dealing to pay off a debt and was due to get married to his fiancée before his arrest, but the wedding had to be postponed due to his incarceration. Mr Jones said his client’s fiancée was standing by him.

Recorder Ben Blakemore sentenced Ahmadi to four years imprisonment. He will serve half of his sentence in custody before being released on licence.
