Reports say at 8.30 am a party of officers led by Sergeant Maharaj, PC Mendoza
and PC Mc Allister were on traffic duties along Noel Street, South Couva.
The officers made a routine stop of a Hyundai Elantra vehicle driven by a 37-year-old man.
Officers say the driver began to behave
suspiciously so they then conducted a search of the vehicle, during which 3.71 kilogrammes of marijuana were seized. The man was immediately arrested.
In a separate incident, a 24-year-old man from Blanchisseuse entered a bar in Chaguanas, jumped over the counter of the bar, and stole a quantity of cash, representing the day’s sale.
It was reported that the man then fled on foot.
Officers of the Chaguanas Police were immediately contacted, and a
party of officers from the Chaguanas Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Chaguanas Charge Room, Task Force Area
North, and Highway Patrol responded promptly.
