Six crew members of a vessel intercepted south of Portugal have been arrested on suspicion of drug trafficking, in an operation carried out by the Judiciary Police (PJ), the National Maritime Authority, the Portuguese Navy and the Air Force Portuguese.
The PJ said in a statement, that during the operation narcotic products were seized, totalling approximately 1,600 kilos, in 44 bales of hashish.
The police said that the four entities developed “Operação Boa Nova” in international waters south of Portugal due to strong suspicions of drug trafficking.
“In close sharing of information, a maritime approach operation was carried out in international waters, targeting a vessel that was moving about 50 nautical miles south of mainland territory”, says the PJ.
