Philiippines: P4.46-M cannabis destroyed in Ilocos Sur

CAMP PRESIDENT QUIRINO, Ilocos Sur – Authorities uprooted marijuana worth P4.46 million from three plantations in Barangay Licungan, Sugpon, Ilocos Sur last week.

Police said that 16,300 fully-grown marijuana plants were uprooted from the three plantations with an aggregate land area of 2,450-square meters.

Based on the standard set by the Dangerous Drug Board (DDB), the total estimated value of the uprooted marijuana plants is P3.26 million.

Authorities also seized 10 kilograms of dried marijuana leaves worth P1.2 million in the three plantations.

The marijuana was burned onsite and samples were taken by the PDEA Region 1 for laboratory examination and documentation.

Police are conducting follow-up investigation to identify the cultivators.
