Two men were caught trying to ship more than two pounds of marijuana hidden in a karaoke machine on Monday, according to police.

An employee at a South Norwalk packaging store contacted police around 6:30 p.m. Monday to report two men suspected of trying to ship drugs through the mail.

One of the men tried to run, police said, but he was quickly detained. The other suspect was detained in the parking lot without incident, police said.

Police said they found a karaoke machine that was packed with more than two pounds of marijuana inside the suspects’ car. Police also seized about $2,000 in cash from the two men.

Demetrius and Medas were charged with possession of more than a kilogram of marijuana with intent to sell, possession of more than a kilogram of marijuana, possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell within 1,500 feet a school and possession of a controlled substance within 1,500 feet of a school. Both men were held on $10,000 bond and given a court date of Feb. 19.
