A 31-year-old Lithuanian man has appeared in court after a cannabis factory was found during a house search in Portadown.

Arnoldas Navardauskas of Garvaghy Road in the town appeared via video link before Craigavon Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

He is charged with four offences, including having the class B drug with intent to supply, on 6 February.

He was remanded in custody, and the case was adjourned until 10 February.

Giving evidence to the court, a police officer said he believed he could connect the defendant to each of the charges.

Mr Navardauskas is also charged with cultivating cannabis and possessing pepper spray.

District Judge Bernie Kelly remanded Mr Navardauskas in custody while his defence find a proposed bail address.

On Monday, drugs worth an estimated £32,000 were seized at the property during searches on the Garvaghy Road.

Police said it was part of an investigation into an organised crime group and followed searches earlier in the day.
