Last August, Nike also partnered with U.K. retailer size?to release limited edition ‘Hemp’ Air Zoom Type, reports Hemp Industry Daily. The shoes retailed for £140 pounds ($240).
Breathable, durable and anti-microbial, some companies, like 8000Kicks, have opted to exclusively produce hemp-based shoes.
The company’s origins trace back to a late-night session in Portugal, where a group of friends started talking about making a smokeable shoe. And while 8000Kicks can’t be smoked — “Seriously, please note that smoking the shoe is not a good idea and might get you hospitalized,” notes the company’s FAQ section — buyers can feel good about wearing something made from sustainable materials.
