“The EMPD Drug Enforcement Unit members responded to a tip off on Sunday in Nigel and managed to apprehend a Nigerian man who was found with narcotics valued at over R5,000,” said EMPD spokesman Wilfred Kgasago.

EMPD raided a house they were led to and came across 11x zip locks of crystal methamphetamine, 16x pieces of LSD and 2x zip locks of dagga.

All of these drugs were hidden in a teddy bear.

“The estimated street value of the seized drugs is R5.600.”

He said cash amounting to R2,500 found on the suspect was confiscated as it is believed to be proceeds from the illicit selling of drugs.

The 36 year old suspect was locked up at Nigel police station on charges of possession and dealing in narcotics. He is expected to appear in the Nigel Magistrate’s Court soon.
