Montreal police execute search warrant at cannabis clinic

Clinique la croix verte is on Ontario St. near the corner of Frontenac St.

The Montreal police carried out a search warrant Tuesday evening at a building on Ontario St. that advertises itself as a clinic that distributes medicinal cannabis.

A spokesperson for the Montreal police confirmed that the operation began early Tuesday evening at Clinique la croix verte, near the corner of Frontenac St., but said he could not comment on what was behind the raid. He said the Montreal police will release information on what was seized in the coming days.

The clinic has a storefront clearly announcing what products it offers and the group advertises itself on the internet as “a unique team of Quebec health professionals working with new tendencies in health treatment, specializing in medicinal cannabis and its derivatives. A young, dynamic team, with a strong professional work ethic.”

In 2017, police in Quebec City seized cannabis and other related products from a clinic operating in that city under the same name. At the time, police in the provincial capital alleged the company was operating without a permit from Health Canada.
