Here’s the press release….

Businesses can post projects and hire freelancers and other professionals right on the platform. When the project is complete, businesses can pay professionals directly through Mary’s List for work completed. Mary’s List will reduce overhead expenses for companies while helping to normalize working in the cannabis industry in states that have yet to legalize cannabis recreationally.

“Creating and launching Mary’s List has been the culmination of my life’s work and an incredibly rewarding experience. We started working on the platform in February of 2018. Now in January of 2019, we just had our launch party and hosted our first career fair in New York City to help people understand what a career in cannabis means. We know there’s so much more we want to accomplish in this industry, and we’re excited to help as many people as possible realize their dreams,” said Denise Biderman, Co-Founder and CEO of Mary’s List. “We headquartered our offices in New York to be part of the growing community of cannabis businesses and professionals in our home state. Our vision for Mary’s List is a place for any person or business to source the help they need for their cannabis business, whether it’s for a license application, a facility buildout, a marketing campaign, a launch event or any other project you could possibly think of.”

Mary’s List started with a landing page, some Google Forms, a newsletter and an Instagram community. From there, Co-Founders, Denise Biderman (CEO) and Taylor Aldredge (CMO), began building the Mary’s List community while creating the platform simultaneously. From October to December of 2018, without any formal promotion, the pair connected 35 businesses with professionals and received over 200 professional profiles through a MailChimp newsletter. There was a graphic designer in West Virginia working on a project for a dispensary in San Diego. An extraction company in Ohio found a consultant they would’ve otherwise never met. A farm in Pennsylvania needed help converting their farm into a cultivation facility. This organic growth helped inform how to create a product that suited the needs of both businesses and freelancers.

The company was further validated after winning the 2018 Boston University Cannabis Startup Competition in October. The company was chosen the winner by four judges from in and out of the cannabis industry and awarded $10,000 including advisement from Green Lion Partners, a Denver, CO based business strategy firm focused on early state development in the legal cannabis industry.

The Mary’s List platform is at the intersection of an emerging market and a growing work trend in the United States: the cannabis industry and freelancing, respectively. The company is well-positioned to give any professional or freelancer the ability to start a cannabis career without moving to a state where cannabis sales are currently legal.

“We’re so excited for Mary’s List in 2019. I found it so difficult to freelance in cannabis myself when I was working on licensing applications for clients. Now, we’ve given freelancers a platform to make finding work much easier. Our goal is to continue building traction and community for our company. Additionally, we don’t want to leave out full-time placements for companies that come to Mary’s List. We will be creating a full-time job placement service within Mary’s List to service those companies as well. We believe Mary’s List is just getting started!”
