A 30-year-old man was arrested after he was caught cultivating some 55 cannabis plants.
The police were monitoring a field found in the limits of Xewkija, Gozo after they were tipped off that the man was using it to cultivate cannabis. Following days of surveillance the Drug Squad moved in, and found some 55 cannabis plants of varying sizes, seeds, and other drug paraphernalia related to trafficking.
The suspect was onsite at the time of the raid.
At the man’s Xewkija residence, the officers found other paraphernalia related to the processing of drugs.
Duty magistrate Simone Grech is leading the inquiry.
The man will be arraigned over the case in the coming days.
