The Lebanese Army raided the homes of wanted persons in the al-Sharawneh neighborhood in Baalbeck on Tuesday night, seizing a factory for the manufacture of hashish, the army said in a tweet.
“Large quantities of hashish were also seized,” the tweet said.
“The patrol came under fire from war weapons and RPGs, and the personnel responded to the sources of fire without injuries,” the tweet concluded.
The Bekaa, where non-state arms are widely prevalent as the state struggles to impose its authority, is often the scene of bloody clashes between rival clans, sometimes involving Lebanese Army soldiers.
