Two Exeter men are accused of operating an illegal marijuana grow near a Visalia high school.

Complaints from neighbors led officers to the home that city officials later deemed “unsafe to occupy,” according to police.

On Friday morning, narcotics officers and Southern California Edison employees paid a visit to a home in the 800 block of W. College Ave., near Mt. Whitney High School.

Officers got an anonymous tip that the residents were operating a marijuana grow and stealing electricity to power the drug operation, said Sgt. Paul Esquibel.

After getting a search warrant, officers and the Tulare Area Regional Gang Enforcement Team (TARGET) went to the home.

While searching the home, officers found a large indoor marijuana grow. Police said they found 162 plants and some processed marijuana — 140 pounds worth.
