Police Narcotics Bureau announced seizing 904.5-kilogram cannabis buds and one-kilogram “Ice” worth HK$194 million, together with arresting two men.
The haul was found hidden with arrestees and from three flats of industrial buildings in operations led by officers in Tuen Men and San Po Kong on Friday.
Two arrestees, aged 28 and 41 respectively, were learned to be the warehouse keepers of the three flats and engaging in trafficking drugs.
According to the force, they were not acquaintances but were believed to have triad backgrounds.
Around 960 packs of cannabis buds weighing 480 kilograms and one kilogram of “ice” drugs were found in two flats in Tuen Mun as the 41-year-old man surnamed Chan was arrested in the raid on Friday afternoon.
The 28-year-old man, whose surname is Kwok, was caught by the police in San Po Kong possessing 704 packs of suspected cannabis buds weighing 420 kilograms.
“The number of cannabis buds confiscated during these raids marked the highest ever recorded in Hong Kong,” said Lau Kai-pang, Superintendent of the force’s Narcotics Bureau(Operations).
He added that the seizure was imported into Hong Kong from North America in the name of “construction materials”.
Two suspects will be in court on the count of trafficking dangerous drugs on Monday while officers held the possibility of further arrest.
