Florida: Nearly $1M worth of marijuana seized from home in Loxahatchee

A SWAT team raid of a home in Loxahatchee led to two arrests and the confiscation of nearly $1 million worth of marijuana.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office arrested 46-year-old Nereida Vila and her boyfriend, Maiker Requejo, 39, on multiple charges related to marijuana cultivation, possession, and trafficking. The couple also had a 12-year-old child and a 20-year-old in the home.

According to the arrest report, the child slept in the master bedroom with the two adults. Two other bedrooms and the garage had been converted to indoor cannabis labs.

Investigators seized a total of 50 plants weighing almost 400 pounds. The sheriff’s office said the marijuana had a street value of about $967,000.

Vila is a convicted felon. Authorities retrieved a gun from the home as well.

Requejo claimed he didn’t know about the marijuana in the house. However, deputies said his wallet contained receipts for liquid fertilizer and other products used to grow marijuana indoors.

Just before SWAT arrived to enter the home with a warrant, the deputy noticed a strong smell of raw cannabis coming from the home.
