Packages believed to contain hashish found on beaches from northern Israel to the center; dinghy containing more packages spotted floating off Tel Aviv
Dozens of sealed packages containing drugs washed up along the length of Israel’s Mediterranian shore on Saturday, police said.
Packages were found on beaches in Naharia, Haifa, Tirat Karmel, Zichron Ya’akov and Ga’ash, while a dinghy containing another 40 packages was found floating off the beach in Tel Aviv.
Police said they were called to inspect the suspicious packages amid initial fears they contained explosives.
However, the sappers discovered they “appeared to contain hashish.”

The packages were transferred to a police lab for inspection and officers were searching the coast for additional packages.
It was not immediately clear if the drugs came from a failed smuggling operation into Israel.
