Canada: Charges laid in police bust of $8M illegal marijuana lab inside high-end home

London police charged one man and have an arrest warrant for a second after seizing more than $8 million worth of drugs from a cannabis extraction lab operating out of a high-end home.

But one marijuana industry consultant warns that police enforcement alone isn’t enough to stamp out cannabis extraction labs popping up across Canada like the one recently busted in London.

London police remained on the scene Tuesday at 467 Commissioners Rd. E., where officers responding to an April 4 disturbance call found a “large and complex” cannabis extraction lab, police said.

Investigators seized 162 litres of cannabis resin, valued at $8.1 million, along with other marijuana products, magic mushrooms, MDMA, two loaded guns, ammunition and other items, police said Tuesday.

Donovan Wendt, 30, and Felice R. Ferri, 46, who remains at large, are charged with drug possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of cannabis for the purpose of trafficking, possession for the purpose of selling and altering cannabis with an organic solvent.
