China Peak opened on Friday for the first time this season.
There was a good crowd and perfect weather on opening day, but there were also a few people breaking federal law.
China Peak is reminding visitors that smoking marijuana is not allowed at any part of the mountain resort.
The ski resort is located on federal land, operating under a 40-year United States Forest Service Special Use Permit, and it is not legal to smoke marijuana on federal land.
If you choose to use marijuana at China Peak you will be removed from the resort for the day, no exceptions.
“If there is any resistance, your season pass will be voided for the rest of this season and you will not be allowed to purchase a pass in 2022/23,” said General Manager Tim Cohee. “Starting now, there will be staff in the parking lots and on lifts to ensure that we are all obeying the rules.”
