Australia: UPDATE: Man arrested after cannabis crop found in Virginia

A man has been arrested after a cannabis crop was found at a house in Virginia.

It will be alleged that just before 12.30pm today (Wednesday 8 February), officers from Northern District Criminal Investigation Branch went to the King Road property after receiving information that cannabis plants were being grown hydroponically.

Electricity was being illegally diverted to the house to power the hydroponic equipment used in the cannabis crop.

Police dismantled the crop and seized around 100 plants.

A 38-year-old Parafield Gardens man was arrested at the scene when police arrived. He has been charged with cultivating a commercial quantity of cannabis plants and was bailed to appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on 16 March.
