While authorities are still trying to piece together the exact circumstances around the death, they did confirm it is being treated as suspicious.

“Police believe that sometime between the late evening of Monday 8 October and the early hours of Tuesday 9 October, a number of offenders have entered the property and the victim was assaulted and died as a result of his injuries,” a statement said today.

“Cannabis plants were taken from the address, and it is suspected that this is the reason why the house was targeted.

“The plants were taken from the house in the victim’s car, a grey 2006 Mazda 2 Sedan with South Australian registration of XLU131.”

The car, believed to have been taken from the property late on Monday night, was later found by police in a nearby suburb in the early hours of Tuesday.

A crime scene was established yesterday and officers are still trying to get in contact with the man’s family, but have not confirmed which country he is from.

Detectives say the 46-year-old man who was found dead at the home had his car and several Cannabis plants stolen from the property.

Authorities say an argument may have resulted in the man’s death, and police are now trying to identify the final movements of the vehicle.

Neighbours were shocked at the major police operation that unfolded in the quiet suburban street.

“It’s a quiet neighbourhood, you don’t expect this in your neighbourhood. You think it’s going to be safe,” local man Adam Bavaresco told 9News.

9News understands the man has been living at the address for around six months, and his landlord said he had appeared to be the perfect tenant – unaware that two of the home’s rooms were being used to grow Marijuana.

Police extended the crime scene to include the surrounding street as they continue the search for a possible weapon in the area around the property.

Authorities are also focusing on identifying the movements of the Mazda prior to be it being found, in an attempt to catch possible offenders.
