Detectives from the Wheatbelt District assisted by the Drug and Firearm Squad have charged five men after a search warrant was executed on a rural property in Kokeby (Beverley) on Thursday 5 January 2023.

About 10:45am, officers attended the property on Bellrock Road and located in excess of 2000 cannabis plants and in excess of 50 kilograms of dried cannabis.

Five men, aged 49, 47, 43, 30 and 28, who are alleged to be involved in the cultivation and supply of the cannabis were taken into custody and have each been charged with:

– 1 x Cultivate a prohibited plant with intent to sell or supply
– 1 x Possession of Prohibited Drugs with Intent to Sell or Supply

The men are all due to appear in the Perth Magistrates Court on Friday 6 January 2023.

Detective Superintendent John HUTCHISON of the Serious and Organised Crime Division said the discovery of the crop was a substantial find for WA Police.

“This is a significant quantity of drugs to be seized and taken off the streets, produced as part of a plan to make huge profits for a serious organised crime group,” he said.

“These profits are utilised for the purposes of funding other serious crimes all of this contribute to causing harm to the community.

“These seizures break that cycle and disrupt the crime groups involved, ultimately reducing that harm.”
